Urban Cabin
This simple wood structure is the initial design investigation into the development of a small cabin located in a town in British Columbia. The cabin is planned to be situated adjacent to a large single family residence, catering to the kids and guests of the family. The intent is to create a small structure that blends in with the nature of the existing home, and functioning as both a playhouse and guesthouse. The structure is planned to consist of a large timber frame that is modified to include generous windows in order to maximize light and views, along with an upper mezzanine to maximize area. The cabin will include a wood stove for heating and energy efficient window systems throughout. Skylights along the roof will allow guests to gaze at the stars on those crisp Canadian nights.
